Superannuation Updates Are Coming!The Australian Government has announced proposed changes to superannuation payments, set to commence from 1 July 2026. We’ve put together some key points that you need to know:✅ Introduction of "Payday Super" | Employers will be required to pay employees' superannuation contributions concurrently with salary and wages.✅ Transition Away from SBSCH | The Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) will be decommissioned from 1 July 2026. Employers will need to transition to alternative commercial solutions for superannuation payments.✅ Enhanced ATO Oversight | The ATO will have increased authority to issue Superannuation Guarantee (SG) assessments proactively if contributions are not received within the stipulated timeframe.✅ Revised Penalties | Employers failing to meet SG obligations may face updated penalties. If super remains unpaid after 28 days, a 25% penalty will apply. Last week, I had the pleasure of joining my fellow Perth-based Chartered Accountants at Frasers in Kings Park to celebrate and welcome the new Fellows of @charteredaccountantsanz.Fellowship is a prestigious honour awarded to members who have demonstrated outstanding career achievements and made significant contributions to the profession, business, or community.It was a fantastic evening connecting with colleagues and recognising some incredible milestones, including watching Nicole Allmark receive her FCA.I also had the pleasure of sitting with Efthalia Samaras and her lovely young daughter, who came along to cheer on her mum as she received her FCA (we even tried to convince her to follow in Mum’s footsteps and take up accounting… the jury’s still out!).It was also special to reconnect with Poonam, who I received my FCA alongside two years ago. That night we were both nominated by the late Andrea Bok, someone I will always remember and be grateful to.All in all, a truly meaningful evening.
